Blogger vs. Wordpress

Sorry, but for me, Blogger wins, Hands Down!

I am having such trouble over at my other site "The Angels Weekly"

Angels is on Wordpress, and it seems like it is nothing but problems all the time!!

When I posted on Monday night, my right sidebar totally moved to the middle column, and won't go back?? Now, I didn't touch anything in the css, or the layout, all I did was publish the articles?

I have a nice man from Wordpress support trying to help me, and after reading the help boards and the help forums at, it seems like I am not the only one with this problem!! There are soooo many posts there about the same exact thing!!!

Many people just posted an article on their blog, and now everything is screwed up!! The boards are loaded with complaints!! We had major problems when wordpress updated to 2.7, the site blew up and we lost Everything!! Had to start from is just sooo frustrating!!

Now, I started blogging for FUN.... not to become some tech guru, or learn how to program for NASA.....and wordpress is really getting on my last nerve!! I love coming here to Blogger and not having those worries!! Blogger makes it easy to do what I want to do, and what I love to do!!

Now I know some will say that Blogger doesn't have all the bells and whistles that wordpress does.....but you know what??? I will be happy to keep blogging here without all the worries and the headaches, than to go to wordpress any day!!

Any opinions out there??

Till next time,
Take Care,

Oh my! I'm so sorry to hear about this, Kat! You have enough trouble editing our work and now wordpress has added to your headaches. I wish there is something I can do about it but I am no tech guru myself. Never been so techie in fact and i love the simple way of doing things here in blogger. I just write and write and then post. Whenever I get bored though, it's the template I tinker with. That's the only and most technical thing I have dared to venture into in blogging.

Despite all these problems, you were still able to release our latest issue on time. Kudos to you, Kat!!! You deserve a group hug from all of your Angels. And lots of kisses too.

I hope things will be easier for you in our next issue.

Much Love,

Kat I went back to check. I have experienced the same problem with Blogger before and it drove me crazy trying to figure out what caused it.I don't know if this applies with WordPress but if that happened in Blogger, you must have posted a big file in the middle column. Usually the culprit is a photo or a video that is too big (in terms of pixels, I think). That's when the right sidebar disappears and jumps down to the middle column. All you need to do is adjust the size of the attachment.

Now I went over all the articles and I didn't see any real big file there. But since you have control over the posts, maybe it's worth checking them again for file size.

Oh God, do I even know what I'm talking about here??? Ok ok ok... Trying my best to be useful or something. Just speaking from experience (with Blogger). He he he...

Usually when this happens you have put something too large in your post. So, if you downsize it, it may correct the problem. I'm with you though...Blogger rocks compared to Wordpress. Way too difficult.

Have a terrific day Kat. Big hug. :)

I will have to go check and see if there is a minimum post allotment.

I've never used wordpress, but I do love blogger. I say stay where you are comfortable.

I'm the opposite of Jenn...I've never used Blogger, only WordPress. I've never had any problems myself. HTML/CSS/Whatever coding can get messed up soooo easy, though.

blogger has a distinct long term disadvantage over any independent site using wordpress: and that is link love.

comments from blogger don't give a link back to the commenter's blog and so it is a one-way love.

people leaving a comment on my independent blog (which uses wordpress (which is excellent btw)) RECEIVE A REAL LINK BACK TO THEIR BLOG.

Once you have left 1 comment on any blogger blog, that's it. Google won't count any of the other links as link backs to your website.

that's not to say that leaving comments at nice blogs is a nice things to do, but if you have 5 minutes, who are you going to leave a comment: the nice blog that gives you a real new link back to your site, or the other one.

Comment on if it is important to you to get a link back.

Ok. my 5 cts worth...

(I DO like your blog btw, and just wished it was not in blogger or blogspot or any of these bulk blog sites.

Kat, YOU'RE WELCOME! The way you thanked me made me feel like a real angel here. I'm so glad to have been of help.

Actually I gave up on it and decided to look into the problem again in the morning. But I just couldn't sleep and had to go back to the site. That's when I realized I encountered that kind of problem before.

I'm so happy it's over and you can now take that much needed rest.Sleep well, beautiful angel.

Much Love,

I love Blogger - I had one of my sites on WP and I switched back to Blogger. I like putting Javascript etc on, and I find it so much easier to use.
