Sorry Folks...

Due to the computer virus that one of my Entrecard friends (NOT!) decided to give to me, I am kind of lacking in the dropping department....
Here and from
The Angels Weekly and Soy Wax Candles Blog.

It makes it hard when my browser keeps shutting down and redirecting me to websites that I don't know.
It is unfortunate that people feel the need to do this to other people.

I have found that when dropping the Entrecards, some of the sites when they first loaded already had a "thanks" in the drop box, and from what I have read on my friend's blogs, this could be the culprit. Now, I am not saying these sites are purposely infecting other sites, but they could have been hacked and contain a virus. If you see this, don't drop, and immediately leave those sites, and I would send a report to Entrecard to let them know that something is wrong.

Like I said, it is not just me this has affected, and some people have better anti-virus protection than I obviously do, so please just keep this in mind when you are doing your drops. And make sure your firewall is on!!

Also, lately I have been reciprocal dropping from my inbox, sort of a way to return the favor, but I have to say that until this virus is sorted out, I will only be dropping on my long time favorite blogs, ones that I know are safe.

I have installed a new anti virus program as some people suggested, but that hasn't helped? It didn't detect the I am going to try some of the other suggestions that were offered.

Until then, Please have patience with me, I will try to get back to regular dropping soon!!!

awww...sorry about your predicament, it's my main reason why I made my own droplist in a first place bec I know EC not only give us points but also unwanted virus.

Sorry to hear - hope you'll sort it out soon!

We'll be here for you when your back - don't worry about that :-)

Sorry Kat. I've got Norton and it's been wonderful. Always have the firewall as well. Some people are just so mean. They don't have a life and are jealous that others do. That's what I always say anyway.

Have a terrific day. Big hug. :)

I don't know if this might help in the future, but I use google chrome.
It at least, won't open a page if it has malware on it.

Kat what virus is it? On my desktop I had found 4 back door viruses that didn't get removed I had to reformat it. Was such a pain. If you email me the virus names I can see if I can do some looking to find some remover tools for you. I use AVAST for my husbands desk top. We haven't had a problem on that one. I used Charter's Internet Security on my desktop that one sucks and for my lap top I have Norton Internet Security. Which I had no problems with. I am pretty computer savvy so if you want email me at and I will try to help you the best I can.

Kat, same thing happened to me but actually it's been happening since January. I just did a 7 hour scan (malwarebytes) today and it only found 2 infected items but I got rid of those and the computer seems ok...for now. I have Norton too but it doesn't keep anything out and not worth it. Looks like I may go with Avast when it's time to renew. Hope you are able to get everything "cleaned" out.

Shinade aka Jackie September 21, 2009 at 9:48 PM

I am only doing my regular drops too Kat!!

I am glad you at least are up and running. Thank you for the heads up. I too like I said before have run with Norton for years and so far knock on problems.

I was not feeling well over the weekend so I apologize for not stopping back over.

I am rushing now to catch up and there's thunder and lightening everywhere.

Sandee is right you know. But, then again, I almost always agree with Sandee. she is very level headed.

I hope you don;t have anymore problems!!

This happened to me last year and it was a huge mess. Try using SpyBot to kill anything that has infected your computer. It worked for me. Also remember to clear your cache and cookies frequently since this slows up dropping considerably. Good luck, I hope you get it fixed.

I was a victim myself! I got it when I opened a blog I regularly visit and managed to remove it. Hopefully.

Hope you can fix yours soon.

I had it last week, and it was extremely hard to get off. I know it came from Entrecard, and I have an idea which blog. I will not drop on any of the blogs I suspect, until they fix their problem.

Viruses are one of the biggest pains in blogging. But if your virus program cannot find a virus you may want to look at cookies.
Just a thought.

Sorry to hear that. I use NOD32. Good luck

Isn't it a disgrace?

I scan every day for all sorts of dirt on my computer, and then suddenly it gave valse virusalarms and took my desktop.

Managed to get the thing off.

In my case it was something completely new and it took three days of keeping my computer offline to see it discussed online.
More than 40.000 computers were infected one afternoon.

It's now in AVG.

Then the redirection things.
I reported a few to entrecard, but they were still there when I went to see my inbox.

So I´m making a list of trusted sites and you´re on it.

When you have suggestions...I´m open to hear them.

Kat I'm so sorry to hear that your computer got a virus.... I would rather have a virus myself than for my computer to have one! What a pain in the butt! I hope you get it all cleared up soon.

A Lil Enchanted,

Staci at Just Bloggled September 23, 2009 at 11:04 PM

Avast has caught the trojans from EC blogs before they made it on my computer, but some of those redirect, popup ads still hang up my computer, regardless of my popup blocker and Avast. I know how you feel. I'm going to have to stop opening several blogs at once, too, because then I don't know which blog is the one sending out the virus.

I encountered a blog the other day that had taken a screenshot of the EC widget and linked that picture to one of those red, Web of Trust sites (the sites that give you spyware and viruses). I didn't know it was a screenshot until I tried to drop and the next thing I know I'm going to some page that is making Avast's sirens go off.
