Surprised and Happy!

What a surprise to have visited one of my favorite blogs in the whole world, My Kids are My World, and see that Jenn had awarded me these two lovely awards!! Jenn you are the sweetest and I will admit I smiled, big time!!!

Problems with the IRS?

Micheal Jackson Pronounced Dead!

OMG!! Michael Jackson has now been pronounced dead after being rushed to UCLA Medical Center. He was unresponsive when paramedics arrived at his home and they performed CPR, but everyone is now confirming that he is dead at the age of 50.

I just read Ashton Kutcher's Twitter post to pray for his children, and then read down to see why...and I was shocked!! I am in disbelief??

They are speculating that he may have had a cardiac arrest....and I am sure many more stories will come out, but this was just announced 5 minutes ago!!

I can't deny the man's talent earlier in his career, and admit to loving the "Thriller" album the best!! I think that was when he was at his peak. Then he went and got all weird and he didn't interest me anymore...too much drama for me.

But I am so very sad to hear this news!!!

First Farrah Fawcett this morning and now Michael Jackson.....

Rest in Peace Michael, and I will pray for your children......

Jon and Kate plus 8 Divorce

Ok, so now it has been announced that Jon and Kate are seperating and getting a divorce.

I have to wonder if the pressure of the show was just too much, or was it all the children....or was it just Kate and her condecending ways?? Personally, she turned me off with her rude comments and bullying.

I hope that Jon can step up and be the father that he should, even if they get divorced. Maybe without the "Kate" influence around, he stands a chance at being the great father he could be, on his own terms and without the constant harping of Kate.

I wish them both luck, and I hope the children are okay. And I hope they can do it without the cameras around. Sad.

Do You Do Customer Satisfaction Surveys?

I do. I want my voice to be heard, and most companies out there today that are doing customer satisfaction surveys are looking for that vital feedback. In a resteraunt if they have a comment card I will fill it out, and even when you get your receipt from a store sometimes, they will ask you to do a survey.

If you own your own small business, Generational Equity advises you to do satisfaction surveys as a way of improving your business, whether it be more training or changing your decor, those customer surveys can really help your business grow!

Do You Wax Your Eyebrows?

I just had my eyebrows waxed for the very first time on Sunday, and I was wondering if this is a regular thing or not??

My daughter seemed shocked that I have "never" waxed my eyebrows, and her friend (Jeannette, the one who gave me the lovely haircut) was coming over to do hers, so she wanted me to have mine done too!!

So I did it, and it didn't hurt at all, not like I thought it was going to? I mean, I imagined all kinds of pain, but it was nothing really, and so fast!! She kept saying "are you ready" and then she would pull the strip off and say "sorry!" but it didn't faze me. I was fine with it!!

This is the way to go, and a lot better than plucking, let me tell you!! I think I will be doing my eyebrows like this from now on!

A Dream Vacation in the Philippines!

I would love to visit the Philippines, after hearing my Dad talk about it when he was in the service. He always said how beautiful it was, and that the Philippines is made up of over 7,000 islands, with the capital being Manila. There is a huge English speaking population there, so I don't think I will have the language barrier there that I would have in some other places. Plus, I have made friends over there, and would love to meet them in person! What a treat that would be, to be able to meet people I talk to on the computer, in person!!

I would love to stay at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, which is a gorgeous luxury hotel that is located close to museums and theaters, and they advertise a spectacular balcony view of the sunsets over Manila Bay! What could be better than that??

They also have a Lagoon like swimming pool, tennis courts and the lushest tropical gardens to browse and walk around in. I might never leave the hotel grounds!!

But I would leave the hotel, so I could go to the Manila zoo and I really want to see the famous "Mall of Asia"! There are also some casinos that I would like to check out as well as the nightlife and probably some of the cultural dances.

Robert Pattinson Hit by Taxi in New York!

I didn't like hearing this.....

My favorite Vampire Robert Pattinson (aka Edward Cullen) was hit by a taxi in New York in front of a bookstore, while trying to escape overzealous fans! Although they are stating he wasn't badly hurt, it is still a little extreme to have to try to flee from hysterical teenage fans!!

He had 5 bodyguards with him at the time, because he is in Manhattan, filming his new movie "Remember Me" and was trying to get back to his trailer, but the fans overpowered the bodyguards and still were getting to him, causing him to run....maybe he didn't know he was running into the street because he was all discombopulated??

Needless to say...he was clipped on the hip and isn't seriously hurt, but one of the bodyguards evidently was furious enough to yell at the fans... "see what you did? You almost killed him!" Sorry, but I had to giggle a bit at this.....can you imagine a grown man, a big burly bodyguard shouting at a crowd of teenage fans??? LOL

Robert stars in Twilight, and the upcoming New Moon and Eclipse movies and he just won major awards at the MTV movie awards!! (I hope you voted, if so...be proud!)

And.......
Just this this week he was voted the world's most handsome man by online readers of Vanity Fair magazine!!!
YAY~~

Do You have Mulch in Your Garden?

Today was such a beautiful day, that when I got home from work, I decided to do a little gardening. I did some weeding, and realized that I needed something for the ground cover in my garden.

Now, I am not sure whether I want to go with a mulch or a gravel look? I like both looks and have seen different gardens done in both, so I decided to do a little research into both options.

The mulch is a nice way to cover the ground and prevent weeds from coming back in multitudes, like they usually do, and I have found a nice Cypress Mulch that is rot-resistant and it would look lovely in my garden. It is very fine and a beautiful golden color and I like that idea. Then there is the Pine Bark which comes in different size chips, and I have seen this a lot. It is also good for maintaining nutrients in the soil of the garden and is easy to work with.

But....I like the look of a gravel or rock lining also, and there is the River Rock which comes in various sizes and looks natural, or I like the White Marble chips that would kind of make my garden look really regal.

So, I guess I better think on it, and start planning soon, I am late as it is, getting my garden started!!

Susan Boyle and America's Got Talent

Did you hear? Susan Boyle may be appearing on the show "America's Got Talent"?
Yup, it was confirmed by Piers Morgan who is a judge on both Britain's Got Talent and America's Got Talent, who said "If she is up for it and she is well enough, our feeling is that she probably will (appear), Absolutely".

Now you may remember the Scottish singing sensation who came in second place (a shocker!) on Britain's Got Talent show not too long ago. She then has had some sort of problems with her health and has canceled shows in England.

What I don't understand is....
How can you come in second place in Britain, live in Scotland, but have a shot at winning "America's Got Talent"??? I thought the show was for AMERICANS?

Don't get me wrong, I admire her talent, and I understand that Susan and many others are outraged about her not winning...but I don't think coming here and being on our show is the answer?

Am I alone in this? Does anyone else agree....or disagree??

Kristin's Beads and My Vision

I Did It!!!
I made something beautiful out of the Paper Mache Beads that I bought from Kristin!
Here I am modeling the earrings with her made beads and some of mine.....

And here is a picture of the pair of earrings that I made....see her beads?? Aren't they showcased so lovely???


This picture is the necklace I made using her beads and some of mine, I love the way the magenta sets off the black and green of her beads, and the green of my beads really highlights the dots on hers!


And this is me modeling the necklace....but as you can see, I have cut off my head!!! Silly me!!! But you get the idea of the necklace and how it looks draped on. I think it came out really nice!!

Do I Need A Better Auto Insurance Company?

I'm going to have to do something about my car insurance. It is costing me a small fortune to insure my SUV. Now, I live in Massachusetts and rates are usually high here anyway (because of all the bad drivers) but I think that staying with the company I have used for years, and that my parents used before me, maybe is not the most practical thing to do now that the economy is the way it is?

I think if I did some searching for a better auto insurance rate, I might be able to save some money in the long run. Generally there are premiums out there that are very similar and it all depends on what coverage you need to have, or what you choose to have, but still, I am a good driver and have credit points every year, so that helps me a bit with my premiums.

Plus, there are all these commercials on the television about lower cost auto insurance that it makes me think that maybe it is time to start searching for a lower rate?

Lobster Price Rip Off!

My daughter asked me to pick her up a lobster because she had driven by a sign at the seafood place that said they were $5.99/lb, and she thought "what a great deal on lobster!" and because she was on the way to the groomers with her dog, she didn't stop.

So she called me to ask if I would run down and pick her up a 2 pound lobster and keep it until she got home. Now, I don't like seafood, (I know, how can I live on the Cape and not like it, right?) but for her I agreed to go down.

First of all, it smelled all fishy in the there (well, it was a fish market) and I didn't like that right off the bat, but when I asked about the lobsters for $5.99 a pound, the lady behind the counter told me that only applies to the jumbo lobsters.

Ok, so I am not the brightest when it comes to lobsters or seafood of any kind, so I asked for a 2 pound lobster, and she just stared at me!! I repeated my order, and she repeated "it is for the jumbo lobsters"!! And I had to admit I had no idea what she meant by that, and she pointed in the water filled case and said "these are the jumbo lobsters and they are starting at 9 pounds."

So then I think I figured it out....I had to buy a lobster of at least 9 pounds to get the $5.99 rate, which would come to around $54.00!!!! WHAT?!?!

I asked how much for a 2 pound lobster and she said "if I can find one, it will be $10.99 a pound, making a little lobster over $22.00! Highway robbery!!! Needless to say I didn't buy one. I called my daughter and told her about the switch in price and she said "the sign doesn't say that, but nevermind, I just thought if it was cheap enough I would treat myself."

Isn't that like false advertising or something?? To say $5.99 a pound but have it only apply to the jumbo lobsters that are no smaller than 9 pounds??

Hmmmmm, I wonder??

Maternity Clothes you WANT to Wear!

Jenn at work wears the cutest maternity clothes now that she is expecting her first baby. She is young and hip, and used to wear all the latest styles and trends, and now that she is showing her pregnant tummy, she has still stuck with those cute styles that we all know her for!!

Ughhh, The Dentist!

I had to go to the Dentist yesterday, because a filling fell out, and my tooth was very sharp and had a hole in it.

Now, this might sound like something normal for most of you.... but for me I haven't been to the Dentist in quite a while!! I am chicken! There, I said it!

But I went to this new guy that Maryann at work had recommended, and you know what?? It wasn't that bad!! I really liked him. He made me feel comfortable, and he joked with me (a huge plus!) and I already have an appointment to go back for a cleaning and x-rays and to see what else I need done. And I am okay with that now.

I think the whole thing is to find someone you are comfortable with, and confront your fears, and then maybe you will start going to the Dentist again? I just feel bad now, because I have neglected my teeth for so long, that I feel that I have a lot of work to get done, but Oh well, it's my own fault!

Oh, and to top it off, when I got home from work, my daughter shows me that she fell at work on her breaktime, and has scraped her knee, hands and elbow really bad, but what bothered me was that her hand was severly swollen and looked like a bone was misplaced under her skin. She couldn't move her wrist or hand, so I told her she had to go to the Emergency Room.

So, she did, and I had my Grandson to watch, which is always a treat for me! And it turns out she just sprained it really badly and they put her in some sort of brace. So I hope she is feeling better today!!

Finding a Good Surgeon

My cousin who lives in Boulder, Colorado, knows that I work in health care, and is constantly calling me up to ask me questions like, "Jim just banged his head....what do I have to watch out for again?" or "Seth put a fishing hook through his finger, how do I get it out?" and loads of questions in between.

Well, last night she called me and said that she is thinking of "getting some work done" and wanted my opinion on whether she should go to Los Angeles where the stars go? I asked her what kind of work? And she said she was thinking of getting a little face lift and a peel to make her skin look fresh again.

I told her that she should just look at Colorado Plastic Surgeons and see all that they have to offer. So after reading about the procedure you would like to have, and checking out the local doctors, you can make a more informed decision about any surgery you are thinking of getting!

They even have before and after pictures for comparison and an application for financing too! This is one of the better sites out there, and has always proved useful for me and my clients.
