What mattress do you sleep on?

I always have this
inflatable mattress

on hand in case I have guests or in case we go camping. There is no way I am sleeping on the ground in a sleeping bag anymore! Those days are long gone.

Comfort is what I go for now. This Coleman inflatable mattress is the perfect thing for me. It is easy to inflate and easy to deflate too. I use it sometimes if my grandson sleeps over and he wants to stay up watching the television in the living room, we just pull out the mattress, and he can lounge away. I have actually fallen asleep with him on this many times. It is like we are having a living room picnic with our air mattress....LOL.

I know for a fact that it is very comfortable to sleep on, and that was one of the key reasons that we got it. There is nothing worse than a roll-a-way bed with bars sticking into your back. This is just soft and pillowy all over.

They are great to have on hand, and they store very nicely in the closet when you aren't using them too!!

If we do go to North Carolina as I said on my other blog, I am going to take this with me, just in case....

Shirts For a Cause

The girls at my work and myself are going to walk in the Breast Cancer walk as a team, and we are all excited to be doing it in memory of someone we love, and or lost to this deadly disease. We are all going to wear pink tee shirts and we are going to have shirt printing done on them so that they say... "I'm Walking for:....."
(then we will each individually fill in the blank with our loved ones name). For the girls who aren't there representing anyone, they will have their shirts printed with "I'm Walking for a Cure". We decided that the printing on the shirts would be a nice memorial and also it will show our support for a cure for this awful disease that claims way too many lives each year. If you are doing a Breast Cancer walk, maybe this would be a good idea for you and your friends, or even your team, if you have one? Till Next Time, Take Care, Kat

Victoria has been replaced for Eclipse!

Rachelle Lefevre has been replaced as the evil Vampire Victoria for the 3rd movie in the Twilight series...Eclipse?? WHAT??
That is the most crucial book with her in it?? I am stunned??

This is what went down, supposedly.......

Summit Entertainment, the studio behind the "Twilight" film series, has issued a statement in response to comments from Rachelle Lefevre, who said she was "stunned" after being replaced in the role of Victoria for the third installment in the vampire franchise, "Eclipse," by Bryce Dallas Howard.

"We at Summit Entertainment are disappointed by Rachelle Lefevre's recent comments which attempt to make her career choices the fault of the Studio," Summit said in a statement to Access Hollywood on Thursday evening. "Her decision to discuss her version of the scheduling challenges publicly has forced the Studio to set the record straight and correct the facts."

On Thursday afternoon, Rachelle issued a statement to Access in which she said she had been "fully committed" to the role of Victoria, an evil vampire out for revenge in the third film. She added she was very "passionate" about the role.

Rachelle had said that she turned down "several film opportunities" as part of her commitment to the part of Victoria. She added that her shooting schedule for the one role she did take - in the movie "Barney's Version," only had a 10-day overlap with the filming of "Eclipse."

Summit, however, said they only learned about Rachelle's shooting schedule conflict last Monday. "It was not until July 20th that Summit was first informed of Ms. Lefevre's commitment to 'Barney's Version,' a commitment we have since been advised she accepted in early June," the statement from the film company read. "Summit had acted in good faith that she would be available to fulfill her obligations both in terms of rehearsals and shooting availability for 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.' We feel that her choice to withhold her scheduling conflict information from us can be viewed as a lack of cooperative spirit which affected the entire production."

Summit claims Rachelle's reps were informed about the "Eclipse" shooting schedule back in April. The studio also said the 10-day overlap comes at a crucial time for the filming of "Eclipse."

"Ms. Lefevre took a role in the other film that places her in Europe during the required rehearsal time, and at least ten days of 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse's' principal photography. This period is essential for both rehearsal time with the cast, and for filming at key locations that are only available during the initial part of production," the statement from Summit read.

"The fact remains that Ms. Lefevre's commitment to the other project - which she chose to withhold from Summit until the last possible moment - makes her unfortunately unavailable to perform the role of Victoria in 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,'" Summit's statement concluded.

Sounds like a lot of he said, she said....and the fact remains, she will not be returning to complete the Victoria role in the most important movie for the character!

Earlier in the day, she thanked the fans of the popular series for their support. "I will be forever grateful to the fan support and loyalty I've received since being cast for this role, and I am hurt deeply by Summit's surprising decision to move on without me," she said in a statement on Thursday afternoon. "I wish the cast and crew of 'Eclipse' only the very best."

She also thanked fans who reached out via Twitter. "I am so touched by all your responses and feel incredibly blessed to have fans like you. From the bottom of my heart: THANK YOU," she Twittered.

Sweet, and Not Just for Babies!

Isn't this just the cutest stuffed animal you have seen? I found this while looking for the perfect baby shower gift. I have a baby shower coming up and I wanted to find something that not everyone else has, and I saw this simply adorable jellycat stuffed dog. There were so many to pick from, but I narrowed it down to this one as being my favorite. He just looks so sweet and soft and cuddly, like you would want to hold him forever!! And just look at that face?? This is also well made for a baby in that it doesn't have those glass eyes, that can become unattached and swallowed, no, this one has lovely sewn on eyes.
Now, I know nobody else will be bringing one of these to the baby shower!

I also saw this adorable little Tiara princess monkey tee shirt in the designer baby clothes section.They say designer, but there is nothing designer about the prices that are offered!! They are very affordable and cute, and what's more, again they are unique in that you will not find them in the local stores, so you know that the gift that you give will be treasured for years to come! They had so many things to pick from, but I absolutely fell in love with this darling monkey Tee. This would be perfect for my niece who is having a birthday coming up, and she would love the princess aspect of it. I might also get the monkey flip flops that I saw to go with this! They also have an appaman little ruffled skirt in electric pink that has tiers of ruffles on it that would look absolutely adorable with this tee shirt!

Also, while browsing the site, I discovered that it isn't just for babies and small children, although there are tons of items for them....
There are also many items for adults too, including clothing and my favorite...
An Oh so Soft, barefoot dreams cozy and soft luxurious throw. I could get lost in this while watching television on those cold nights that will be coming up quicker than we would like!
I love that it is machine washable and won't pill. Those blankets that do drive me crazy. This one just looks like it is soft and warm and just what you need to wrap yourself in.

They also have a line of child safe wooden toys, that I wish I would have known about when my grandson was smaller! He would have loved these things!

I am so happy that I found unique and affordable gifts that I am sure will be a hit at the baby shower and at the birthday party!! And me, I will be nestled tightly in my cozy blanket throw come winter!!

Moving on.....Feeling Better!

Ok, so it is a new day, and I have a new attitude thanks in part to all my wonderful friends who left me beautiful comments and helped me get through yesterday!! Thank YOU!

I have a big smile on my face and am looking at things a little differently today.

I also spent the day with Marcus, and he always cheers me up!! He is my lifeline and whenever I start to get down, he is my savior!!

It's something about a Policeman!

Ok, so I will admit that I have a thing for men in uniform, and one of those uniforms that I have a thing for is a policeman! They are only fascinating to me if they are not pulling me over though!

My best friend works with policemen all the time, and I don't know how she does it? How does she stay so calm when there is a big hunky man there, wearing his uniform, standing right in front of you, with his gun in plain view? I don't know, but there is something about that for me, and it has to do with the gun, I think? One policeman I know uses a Blackhawk holster
to hold his gun, and I just find that very exciting.

Maybe it is because we all secretly want that policeman to take care of us, and his position in society gives us that feeling of safety, and then the fact that he is carrying a gun for protection makes it all the more real, that he could protect you no matter what? Most of the items a policeman has at his disposal are meant to help, so there is something about seeing those handcuffs too!!

I love to watch the cop shows too, they give me a secret thrill, just to watch them catch the bad guys! I know they are out there protecting me and keeping the streets safe. And we should give them all the support we can!!

(Probably lusting after them isn't part of the plan!!)

Happy Birthday Mum! Not!

This is the way I feel today, all upside down and scraggly....
Discombopulated and missing some pieces.
My Mum's birthday is today, only she isn't here anymore to celebrate it.
I am very sad.
I feel very dis-jointed and out of place.
I miss her terribly!

I still have not gotten over her passing, so every holiday, every birthday, and even every single day is hard for me.
To lose both parents within a year is a terrible thing to bear, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.
I have tried to be happy and move on, so to speak.....
And I really, really try....
But in reality.....
I'm stuck.
I'm sad.
I'm lost.

I wish she was still here with me.
I miss her smile,
I miss her hugs,
I miss her laugh,
I MISS HER!

I can only hope she knows how much!

I hope she can celebrate her birthday,
Because I still can't....

Still Waiting for New Moon!

Okay, so I am still anxiously waiting for New Moon to come out!
So I thought I'd post another poster for the movie.

This one shows a Bella and her little triangle between Edward and Jacob.
If you go back and read my post about New Moon when I was reading it, you will see that this was my least favorite of all 4 books, so I am a little torn...

I want to see the movie....I will see the movie, but I know I am going to cry, just like I did in the book, and I know I will be angry with Bella all over again.

But such is the Twilight series!
I have to have my vampire fix, LOL!

Football Bead Necklaces for Opening Day!

The girls are I are going to have a huge party to celebrate The New England Patriots Opening Day on September 14th, 2009, because we love the Patriots and we love to have a party!!

They will start their pre-season on August 13th, 2009 and we will be ready for that too, with our chips and dip and our Football Beads on!! We have found the best place to get party supplies and we found that they have necklaces made up of football helmets!! How cool, huh? Well, they are having a huge sale right now, and we are ordering now before they are all gone!! We are ordering the silver helmet beads, just like the Patriots wear (the helmets, not the beads!) and will be displaying them proudly with our NFL authentic shirts!

We are also getting some red, white and blue beads that have a singular football pendant that says "We're #1" on them! They look like such fun, and we can pass them around. They are cheap enough that we can buy bunches and let the kids play with them too!

I am also looking into all the wicked cool Halloween decorations and things that they have, and am leaning towards getting the glow in the dark skull and crossbones beads for my grandson's annual Halloween party!! The kids would love them!!

This is a great company to order your party supplies from, they have been in business for a long time, and the prices are extremely reasonable. If you wanted anything to do with Mardi Gras, this is the place for you!! That is their specialty! If you ever need party supplies or affordable presents, or rewards, check them out and see what I mean!

My Top 10 Funniest Movies

Now I know that humor is particular, and not everyone has the same sense of humor, so please keep in mind that this is just my own version of the top 10, okay?

I just love to laugh, and these movies have definitely made me laugh over the years!!

So here goes:

1. There's Something About Mary (1998) This is still one of my favorite movies of all time, comedy or other, Ben Stiller and Cameron Diaz made this movie, and my sides actually hurt from watching it the first time. I had to watch it over and over to get all the jokes and things I missed from laughing so hard the first time.

2. Young Frankenstein (1974) This movie was way ahead of it's time! The double meaning jokes, the one-liners....remember "Abby Normal" ? LOL

3. Good Luck Chuck (2007) The scene with the jumper cables actually makes me laugh out loud, and I have to keep rewinding it!! Funny!

4. Big (1988) This was and is a very funny movie, but it is also a little sad too. To yearn for what you can't have, and then to get it and not be happy.....but the trip there was funny to watch.

5. Wedding Crashers (2005) This movie made me laugh so hard, especially the stalker bridesmaid...LOL

6. A Christmas Story (1983) A classic that I have to watch every year, and every year I still laugh, even though I know all the punchlines.

7. The Wedding Singer (1998) Adam Sandler in what I think was his finest!! To watch him lose it at a wedding was hysterical.

8. Groundhog Day (1993) Typical Bill Murray, I also like Scrooged too!

9. Private Benjamin (1980) This movie had so many classically funny lines in it, it still makes me laugh today.

10. Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994) This was when Jim Carey first came into the limelight for me, and he was just so funny and amazing!

Okay, so I know I probably missed some.....it's hard to just get them off the top of your head. If I remember any others, I'll add them... I hope you enjoyed these!

Want to Get Away with Your Girlfriends?

After my vacation in Ohio, I am more than ready to go on another vacation, and the Comfort Inn girlfriend getaway sounds like it is just what I need!

I would love it if my girlfriends and I would get to go somewhere all together for a fun filled vacation. That would be absolutely perfect!

I heard about the girlfriend getaway with Rachael Ray and I just about flipped!! I love her show and I tape it every day on my DVR so I don't miss it while I am at work.
I have entered the contest to hopefully win the grand prize that consists of:
3 Days and 2 nights in New York City (Yay!)

Airfare and Hotel for 4 people (me and my girlfriends!)

Let me tell you what a treat this would be....We would get to see the Rachael Ray show live, be in her audience, revolve in our seats on the giant swivel thing that turns the audience from one set to the next, and watch her in person!! Wow, I am almost without words, but not totally!

I would love to win this for me and my friends, because my girlfriends are the Best! We could all stay in the nice comfortable hotel when we aren't out shopping in New York City, or at the Rachael Ray show, or sightseeing, or dancing!! I think this would be an awesome thing for friends to do together. There is nothing like your girlfriends, and just imagine, there won't be any of the drama that being with the hubby or the family always creates!! It will just be fun and laughing and priceless moments!! We all could use a vacation like that!

My Cousin is Moving Away

My cousin is moving out of state, and she has done something that I think is amazing! She is getting help from a moving services company that sounds a lot better than what I went through when I moved.

She is using ABF U-Pack Moving and they have one of the best deals that I have ever heard of...
You let them know when you are moving, and they drop off a truck or a pod like thing, and then within 3 days, you pack it all up with your stuff the way you want it packed, and then they come and pick up the truck or pod container and drive it to your new home!! How very cool does that sound?

Nothing like what I went through, by having to hire a rental truck, pack it all and then try to drive the darn thing to my destination!! Those trucks are near impossible to drive! I don't know if they are just beat up from being driven so much and so far, or if they really are that tough to drive. Not at all like a normal truck.

Anyway, I would much rather do what Abbie is doing. I like the idea of someone else hauling my stuff to the destination. Then when they get to your destination, they deliver the truck or pod and you have 3 days to unpack and unload all your belongings before they pick up the empty container. This is so much more preferable than having hurried movers who don't care that the box they are banging had Great Grandma's good china in it. Yes, I like this idea much better!!

I was amazed when Abbie told me that she got a really good deal too, much better than the prices from moving companies. She shopped around before she found ABF and she is glad she did. We will have a packing party here to help her pack up and she has friends who will help her down there when her pod arrives. She said she will have an "unpacking" party for everyone that helps her to unpack. I wish I could be there with her.

A New Feeder for my Hummingbirds!

Finally, the Humming birds have returned! Yay! I am so happy. I will get to watch them again as they feed in the numerous feeders that I have around my yard.

I just bought a new glass hummingbird feeder that is absolutely gorgeous and I think it will attract many more Hummingbirds to my yard. The good thing about a glass feeder is that it will be easy to clean when the season is over. The older plastic ones do the job, but they are really hard to clean the nectar out of, once the Hummingbirds leave. This glass feeder has individual arms with the holes in for the Hummingbirds to dip their beaks in to get the nectar.

I think that a Hummingbird feeder would be an excellant gift for anyone who likes to watch nature, or especially for anyone interested in attracting birds to their yard. It would be a great gift for a teacher present for the end of the school year from your child. Or it would be a lovely present for your best friend.

There is something absolutely mesmirizing about watching these little tiny birds with their wings that beat so very fast, hover over a feeder and dip their beaks in to gather the nectar. They seem to hover in mid air, but it is their wings beating at a rate of over 80 beats a minute! That is very very fast! The Hummingbird is so small that it can fit in the palm of your hand with room to spare too! They are so beautiful with all the different colors and species that you may not even know it was a Hummingbird that whizzed by your head at an enormous rate of speed, unless you actually saw the colors or you knew that you had attracted Hummingbirds to your area with your feeder.

If you have never watched the Hummingbirds, take my word for it, buy a hummingbird feeder, get some nectar to put into it, and just sit back in amazement while the hummingbirds flock to your feeder. They are one of nature's true wonders!

Back from Vacation!

Okay, so the angle is all wrong on this picture, but I will explain....

I am back from vacation, and this is what I came back to at work! An overload of work just waiting for me on my chair, stacked so high it reached above the arms of my chair. I know the pic doesn't really show it, but really, come on.....
Was there no where else to put it but on my chair, so I couldn't even sit when I saw how much work there was?

And this is what my desk looked like when I first walked in, lots of stuff left here too! But not as bad as the chair!

And finally, my bins....
The top one is the pits, where all incoming mail and paperwork goes. As you can see by the work overload, no one did a damn thing to help me while I was on vacation!! It was all nicely left for me.
The bottom bin is for the batches, and this one is the one I didn't get to before I left, and here it still sits, more than a week later.
I have worked through other people's vacations, and we all pitched in to help so that there wasn't a huge pile waiting for the person when they got back.
And as I said, this is my first vacation in 6 years, and all I can say is "WTF?"

But you will all be happy to hear that I just smiled and said "It's okay, I will get to it when I get to it", when my supervisor walked with me in the morning to my desk. She said everyone was saying I would have a fit and freak out, and she thought it was funny!
Me, not so much.
But it had to make me think why I help everyone else, if the same doesn't apply across the board? But oh well, I guess I will be extra super busy at work for a while trying to catch up!

The Boat Ride Was Nice!

This is a picture of the back of the boat, it was a paddleboat that went down the river for a bit, then docked so we could all go to this old mansion on an island.

So we took the tour of the mansion, walked the grounds a bit, it was nice, everyone was in period costumes, and insisted on being called "docents". There were some really interesting artifacts and items.

But the ferry boat was my favorite!! Thanks Sandee for your advice!! I even gathered up the courage to go to the back and hang over the railing to take this shot of the wheel in action!! I had a few more shots too, but this one was the best!

Reviews are Helping me buy a Toaster Oven

Before I left for vacation, my toaster oven died, and I have been on the internet searching for toaster oven reviews ratings so that I can get the best replacement possible.

I need a toaster oven that is not only in my price range, but one that will fulfill my needs. I need one big enough to hold certain dishes I have that I cook with, and one that has the correct depth. I might even get a convection toaster oven? I will have to do more reading on those though, but they sound wonderful.

The reviews are very helpful in assisting me in finding just the right one, because you can learn about uneven cooking and burning of food with specific models. So, sometimes the cheapest isn't the best, and that is where the reviews are most helpful. You set your price rangs, and then read the reviews on the models that have been tested. Simple right?

Maybe when I get back, I will have gathered enough information to get the best toaster oven for me?

I love Panda Bears and have since I was a little girl. I think I mentioned in a meme once about my addiction to panda bears. I have a huge collection of them!!

Anyway, so when I was over at Sandee's blog, I saw that she was awarded this, and usually she says that her regulars can take the awards, but for this one, she had named specific ones to get it, and I understand fully....I am not the best commenter in the blogosphere.....I just wanted the panda award....it could have said anything, like...
Award for not washing your hair for 3 weeks...... or ......
Award for having smelly feet, LOL and I just wouldn't have cared....
it was a Panda and I felt like I had to have it. So, I asked...and kinda begged....and Sweet Sandee said "of course you can have it"...... Isn't she wonderful??? Well, she is wonderful whether she allowed me to take this award or not, but she is even more wonderful now~~

Okay, so I'm not playing by the rules, because the rules don't apply here....
So any of my readers are welcome to take this from my blog, and claim it as your own, even if you (like me) are not always the best at leaving comments (and we all know how important that is....right????).

OKAY~
Now for the second piece of news.....
I am leaving for a well earned vacation tomorrow and I am going to visit some dear friends in Ohio that I haven't seen in 13 years!! I will be gone until the 12th of July and then will need a little recoup time too.....maybe?

I am not sure about internet access while I am there, and if I will be able to update my blog, but I sure am going to try!!!

And, to everyone who drops entrecards on me while I am gone....I will be more grateful than you know, and if I don't lose my readers, it will be nothing short of a miracle!!!!
